Georgia Power Customers will see Higher Electric Bills in January

Georgia Power customers are about to see a monthly increase in their electric bills starting in January.

State regulators approved the rate increase 4-1 on Tuesday with rates increasing in phases over the next 3 years. Since Georgia Power is a regulated monopoly they must have their rate and fee increases approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission.

It is unclear how much the rates will increase but Georgia Power has pushed for this increase to help with growing cost of operating including storm repairs.
